Of Cupcakes and Sweethearts

hello everyone! sorry i haven't been very faithful in posting... i kind of forgot i had this blog, actually! haha der. anyways, here's some updates on the husband & me:

Devon is fulfilling his duty as "Greatest Husband Ever" perfectly. (mushymushy) he's been busy with work on the weekends, but we've enjoyed our time together when he's off. he does an excellent job of spoiling me & just being a ton of fun. :) (mushymushy round 2) we're slowly getting our apartment decorated, making each other laugh (not slowly), & going to the temple every week. we've now been married for 5 whole months (where did the time go?!) & loving every minute of it. he's a sweetheart!!!

i am still being my dumb ol' self, & i mean that in the most affectionate way possible. the cupcake making is one of my sanity outlets, amidst the crazy & dramatic world we live in (none of which, i can tell you, comes from my husband, because he's pretty much perfect, haven't you heard?! :D). i now have a total of 92 recipes--yeah, i have NO idea where all those came from, either. the cupcakes are slowly becoming mentioned among family & friends, & for that i am so grateful.

over the coming summer Devon & i have projects we'll be working on. for me, it will be to further my decorating abilities; i'm going to learn how to make flowers, designs & fun shapes for my cupcakes, & i am SO excited! for Devon, his project is to do the Insanity fitness program; he's going to have a lot of fun with that! & for both of us, we'll be doing more yoga, cardio & eating right, because we could really get into just a little better shape (me, especially...). we also want to go visit his dad in Texas, so we're crossing our fingers we can make that happen at some point. & of course, we'll continue battling it out in Smash Bros Brawl, pigging out on sweets & going to do the Lord's work in the temple weekly. :)

so there you have it, folks! now it's off to make gnocchi soup--be jealous. until next post!

Welcome!/Our Story

hey folks, welcome to our blog! since we've gotten married, i figured we'd better get a blog going--especially me, since i have no use to have a personal blog anymore. so, here will be our adventures, documented by me. (my husband has given me complete creative & writing licenses. mwahaha!)
i thought that this post would be perfect to tell our love story. don't worry, i will try to keep the Cheese Factor down. ;)

back in October 2011 we were both invited to a mutual friend's house for a Murder in the Dark party. everyone was waiting for someone named Devon Archer to arrive, & me being the impatient person i am, just wanted to start playing the game. when he finally showed up, i took 1 look at him & thought, "well gosh, we waited for HIM? whatever." (in my defense, i was in a bad mood that night!)
so we commence playing the game, which is basically everyone wandering around in a pitch-black house & trying to avoid the unknown "murderer" until a victim is found & the lights turned back on to discuss who may be the killer. at this point i was wondering WHY i even went, because complete darkness is my biggest fear. so i just stuffed myself in a corner & crouched down, waiting for the round to be over, when this Devon guy literally TRIPPED over me. he said, "who are you?!"
and that's how we met, officially.
we didn't run into each other again until the day before New Year's Eve, at a Mormon rave. (yeah, try wrapping your brain around that.) we started talking outside away from everyone else, & we had really good conversation about where we'd traveled to. i enjoyed it, but then he left...& we started seeing each other here & there. i always said hi to him, but i thought he didn't remember me. little did i know, he did.

in March our YSA stake had a talent show, & we both performed in it (separately). he made it to the "finals" & i wanted to congratulate him, but after looking over the whole room he was nowhere to be found. a few days later i contacted him on Facebook & congratulated him; we wrote back & forth a little bit, he got my #, & we started texting each other. we hung out a few times after, & one night we were watching the Truman Show at his house. he hinted (not subtly at all, by the way) he wanted to snuggle, & honestly i just thought, "what the he-l-l" (what a good LDS girl i am, right?...) & went for it.
it was the Snuggle Heard Round the World. after that, we were official.

5 months later he proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower (in Las Vegas). it had been a fun-filled & lovey-dovey past few months & we were ready to "take the plunge". it may sound like a short time to date, but hey, you know how Mormons are: they're the masters of short dating/engagements! but it all worked out, so who can complain? (except my Mam...haha)

the day after our 8 month anniversary, we were sealed in the St. George Temple as husband & wife for all eternity. it was the happiest day of our lives. :)
10 months & 25 pounds later, we're living in bliss starting our new lives together. we live in a cute apartment, my cat is here now, & we're enjoying each other every day. we go to the temple every week, which has really strengthened our faith & commitment, we do date night every week, & we do chores around the house together almost every day. he takes such good care of me, & i certainly try to do the same for him. :)

so that's our story in a nutshell! i hope you read our blog; i'll keep y'all posted! :)

xoxo
